21st Century Learning & Development
An ISPI Live Session with Clark Quinn
An ISPI Live Session with Clark Quinn: 21st Century L&D
From Clark Quinn:
The approach of much of Learning & Development (L&D) seems mired in the industrial era. We continue to see requests in which instructional designers are treated as order-takers, expected to provide courses that dump large amounts of information at learners and evaluate those courses by “smile sheet” (all of which we now know aren’t supported by science).
We're also seeing phenomenal changes in technology:
- Content management systems
- Answers and questions from semantic engines
- Interactive video
What is the role for L&D in this new world?
In this session, we'll explore, from an evidence-based and human perspective, what the implications are for organizations in general, and L&D specifically. We'll look at perspective changes, including:
- From learning to performance
- From control to facilitation
- From courses to resources
- From creation to curation
Let's look at what the future can, and should, be for Learning & Development.
